Faktisk.no believes that Fredrik Solvang’s statement on pensions did not hold up. Now the host fights back strongly.
During the Tuesday night “Debate”, participants discussed the economic development of retirees. One of host Fredrik Solvang’s premises was that retirees have had “less to deal with” for six years in a row.
In reality, this claim has not been taken for granted and they have concluded that Solvang is wrong.
In short, it is about Faktisk. Not including taxes in its fact check, while Solvang relates to calculations by the Technical Calculation Committee where tax deductions are not included.

Faktisk.no has consulted with Professor Emeritus Alf Erling Risa of the University of Bergen, who has investigated the effects of the Norwegian pension reform.
He confirms to Faktisk.no that when talking about the purchasing power of pensioners, or using the term “route with”, it is the calculations of the Technical Calculation Committee for real growth after taxes that give the best picture of the situation , he writes faktikt.no.

In a Facebook post published Friday morning, Solvang responds:

In four of the last five years up to and including 2019, the growth in real income of pensioners has been negative. These are objective figures published by the Technical Calculation Committee. For 2020, there are only estimates to follow, but the estimate shows that retirees will have real income growth of minus 0.2.

Furthermore, Solvang writes:
“In fact, I choose to use an unpublished table (that I know of) from the Ministry of Finance for 2020, which shows that all households in 2020 according to the Government’s fiscal plan will leave with positive purchasing power. Our verification shows that there is no basis to say that pensioners were left with nothing to do in 2019, 2017 and 2015. Solvang also notes in its Facebook post that Faktisk.no writes that the Ministry of Finance’s calculations show that pensioners can get stronger by 2020.

That Faktisk.no fact-check the statement “to route with” is not the least bit strange, the publisher believes:
