The case of the two soccer profiles has made headlines around the world. Now they are being defended by the girl who is said to have been the reason they got into trouble.

On Monday, it emerged that the two English stars Phil Foden (20, Manchester City) and Mason Greenwood (18, Manchester United) had been expelled from the English team.

The background to the incident is that the two young men are said to have taken the girls with them to the hotel room during the English stay on Saga Island.

This was a violation of crown rules and the national team coach, Gareth Southgate, was able to confirm that the two players went home and are not relevant to the Denmark meeting.

Both Foden and Greenwood made their debut for the A national team in the game with Iceland.

It was the Icelandic website 433.is that first reported the case and the two girls in question reportedly shared photos and videos of the meeting on social media.

Foden and Greenwood are said to have smuggled the two girls into the hotel room.

The British tabloid Daily Mail claims to have been in contact with the girls in question and the newspaper writes that they are Nadia Sif Lindal Gunnarsdottir, 20, and her cousin Lara Clausen, 19.

Gunnarsdottir, who is a model and participant in the Icelandic edition of Miss Universe in 2019, tells the newspaper that he had contact with Greenwood in the days before the arrival of the England squad in Iceland and tells the following about the meeting with the stars :

– We met online and I spoke to Mason a few days before they came here. They didn’t know they had to be quarantined and we thought that since they were going to play Iceland they had probably been tested beforehand and that everything was fine, he tells the Daily Mail.

In a video posted on social media, which has spread rapidly online and has appeared in major newspapers around the world, we can see two girls talking on the phone with Greenwood and Foden. In the video, Foden asks why the girls come to the hotel and gets the following response: “What do you think?”

The girls then ask if the two of them can sneak into the hotel and a video posted later shows two girls inside the England players’ room.

– I would never do that

However, through her Instagram story, Gunnarsdottir expresses Monday night that it was not she and her cousin who made this big news. Now she regrets helping to put the two stars in a bad position.

The 20-year-old denies having leaked the story to the media.

– I want to be honest about all this. I have not leaked any of this to the media. I have not published the photos and videos. It wasn’t me who was talking to him on the phone, it was another girl. I didn’t know they were in quarantine.

While the girls had heard of Greenwood prior to the meeting, they claim they did not know who Foden was.

– We didn’t even know that Mason played for Manchester United and is not so interested in football. We haven’t spoken to them since the meeting. We didn’t want to bother, because now they are having a hard time. They have not contacted us either, says the Icelandic model.

According to cousin Lara, everything was very badly thought out by everyone involved.

– They are very young. We are all young and stupid and we make mistakes. They treated us very well. They were true gentlemen, he tells the Daily Mail.
