Several women in business and society have signed a petition demanding that the Norske Selskab men’s club also be open to women.
The appeal is signed by 27 women from various industries in Norwegian business, many in managerial positions, writes Dagens Næringsliv.
– If this were pure bridge or skeet club for men in all walks of life, it would be a different matter. But this is a club where all members play important roles in business, and in closed forums they have long-term conversations that directly and indirectly bring valuable networks and important decisions, says founder Isabelle Ringnes (31), who works for gender equality. and equality control.

Last winter, after a separate committee investigated the issue, the club’s general meeting said no to admitting women as members.
Morten Thorvaldsen, chairman of the board of directors of Norske Selskab, writes in a text message to the newspaper that he does not want to comment on the matter.
Norske Selskab is the oldest club in the country, founded in 1772 by Norwegian students in Copenhagen.
