An unknown number of people have been injured after several stab wounds in Birmingham. According to the mayor of the city, there appears to be a connection between the stabbings.
Police have declared a “serious incident” in Birmingham city center, following several stabbings in the city.
West Midlands police first received reports of a stabbing at around 1:30 on Sunday night.
In a statement, the police sign Twitter monitoring:
– We immediately went to the place, together with colleagues from the ambulance service. Shortly after, other stab wounds were reported in the area.
The city’s mayor, Andy Street, tells the BBC that there appears to be a connection between the stabbings, but the motive is currently unknown.
Unknown extent of damage
Police do not yet have information on the number of injured and the severity, but confirm that more people are involved. Emergency services work together to provide all necessary medical care.
A “serious incident” is declared when there has been a serious injury or risk to the safety of the public.
