Furious at the accusations

The Atlantic is drawing attention with an article that puts President Donald Trump in a very bad light. According to anonymous sources in an article written by editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, Trump is said to have had some very disparaging words to say about American soldiers who died in battle.

Among other things, he is said to have called them “losers” for being killed.

The case became an issue when the president met with the press at the White House on Friday night Norwegian time.

– There is no one who feels stronger for our soldiers, our wounded warriors, our soldiers who died in the war, than me. It is a bluff, like Russia, Russia, Russia was a bluff. It is like many other things, a bluff. And you will hear more of these completely irrelevant things as we get closer to the election, the president said.

“Witch hunt”

Trump called the article a continuation of the “witch hunt,” hoping it would affect the election.

“But the American people are too smart,” he said.

When the president was asked why John Kelly, a retired general and former Trump chief of staff, is not among those defending him in this case, Trump responded:

– He was with me, he didn’t do a good job. He had no temperament and was completely exhausted by the end. This man was completely exhausted. It did not work in the last few months.

In addition, the president speculated that one of the sources for The Atlantic article “could be a guy like Kelly.” He then attacked the magazine and the journalist who asked the question.

– I think it’s a shame that a second-rate magazine – I don’t read it, I know very little about the magazine – can write things like this, about someone who has done so much for the military. And get away with it. That you are actually asking questions about it is embarrassing. You should be ashamed.

First lady Melania Trump defends her husband in Twitter a short time later:

– The case of the Atlantic is not true. It has become a very dangerous time where anonymous sources are believed above all others and no one knows their motivation. This is not journalism, it is activism.

In 2018, the president canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris, where American soldiers who died in World War I rest. He claimed it was canceled at the last minute and washed in the rain.

He allegedly claimed that the helicopter could not fly and that the Secret Service would not take it there. This should not be the case, according to The Atlantic.

Instead, the magazine writes that she did not want to leave because she was afraid her hair would unravel in the rain and because she did not believe it was important to honor American soldiers who died in war.

The magazine references four sources with knowledge of the discussion that is said to have taken place that day. In a conversation with employees, Trump is said to have said the following:

‘Why should I go to that cemetery? It is full of losers.

In another conversation during the same trip, Trump is also said to have referred to the more than 1,800 Marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood in 1918 as “fools,” that is, for example, credulous or credulous in Norwegian, for having been murdered.

Several of the comments have also been confirmed by the AP news agency from its own sources.

– It’s a shame

Trump’s spokesman, Judd Deere, has claimed that the allegations in the article are false.

– No soul was brave enough to put its name on these accusations. That is because they are false. Just another article based on anonymous sources that aims to take down a commander-in-chief who loves our soldiers and has kept the promises he made. What a pity! Deere wrote Twitter.

Trump has also defended himself on Twitter.

“Atlantic Magazine is dying, like many other magazines, so they make up a false story to become relevant,” he wrote, among other things.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has reached out to his Republican rival:

“I have never been so disappointed in my entire career, by a leader I have worked with, president or others,” Biden was quoted as saying by AP.

Additionally, Biden said he believes the article appears to be true and that in that case it will be a shame. He believes that the president should apologize to families who have lost loved ones in the war and families who have relatives in the military.

In 2015, Trump also claimed that the now-late Republican Senator John McCain was not a war hero. McCain spent more than five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

– He’s not a war hero. “I like people who don’t get caught,” Trump said publicly at the time.

In The Atlantic, Goldberg claims that Trump would not pay for the funeral of McCain, who died last fall. McCain was one of the few Republicans who continued to criticize Trump even after Trump was nominated as the party’s presidential nominee in 2016. According to Goldberg, Trump is said to have described McCain as a “fucking loser” after his death.

– Considering everything that has happened since then and everything you have learned, you regret having said it, a journalist asked last night.

– I say what I say. I never got along with McCain. He disagreed with John McCain. He wasn’t a fan, Trump said, among other things.

– It doesn’t mean I didn’t respect him. I respected him. But I disagreed with him on many things and I think he was right, Trump said.
