The couple first met in their teens when Oliveira’s father married Pimenta’s mother. From there, the sibling relationship took an unexpected path.
– At one point we learned that it was more than a friendship. It was a very strong love, says Oliveira, according to Yahoo Sport.
He kept the relationship a secret
The rider won his first MotoGP last week and has become a very popular figure after breaking out last season.
During the early years of their relationship, the couple kept their love a secret, but a few years ago they chose to talk about their feelings. Last year, they announced on Instagram that they were getting married and the couple has received a lot of support afterwards.
– I am happy that my son is marrying the love of his life, said the motorcyclist’s father, Paulo Oliveira, according to BT.
Postponed wedding
Initially, the wedding should have already taken place this year, but the aftermath of the coronavirus got in the way. Like most other sports, the season was postponed and thus crashed on the big day.
– We should have gotten married this year, but I was going to run races that weekend, so we have postponed it for next year, concludes Oliveira.
The Portuguese is currently in ninth place in the MotoGP summary.
