Bodø / Glimt punished Sarpsborg 08 for missing the opportunity: they launch into league gold – VG

SARPSBORG (VG) (Sarpsborg 08 – Bodø / Glimt 0–3) Nothing seems to be able to stop the magnificent Bodø / Glimt, who according to the Norwegian Computing Center has around a 90 per cent chance of taking gold. On Sunday, the margins were also on the north side.

Because when Danish Philip Zinckernagel scored his 10th league goal of the season, Jørgen Strand Larsen had already abused two gigantic opportunities.

It is true that Zinckernagel should have already sent Glimt to the head before then, but twice the attacker from Sarpsborg 08 arrived alone with Nikita Haikin.

Various experts have thought that Bodø / Glimt has a goalkeeper problem, but in the “city of the sun Sarpsborg”, the Russian kept several brilliant saves.

– I am very happy to have kept a clean sheet today. I can’t take all the credit. I also have the defender to thank, says the goalkeeper to VG after the game.

When Marius Lode also stood in front of the empty cage and stopped Joachim Soltvedt’s attempt, the road to victory was long for the Sarpsborg hosts.

In the second half, referee Espen Eskås pointed to the penalty spot when Philip Zinckernagel and Jens Petter Hauge called an error by Ismaila Coulibaly.

Hauge was run over by Jonathan Lindseth, who knocked down Bodø / Glimt’s left edge approximately on the penalty area line. Eskås pointed to the penalty spot.

The Bodø / Glimt jewel even put the penalty on the crossbar, but got another try, either because the goalkeeper was too far from the line or because Mikael Dyrestam kicked on the return.

On the second attempt, Hauge sent the ball into the opposite corner on the first attempt, while goalkeeper David Mitov Nilsson went the other direction.

Not many minutes later, Philip Zinckernagel kept pace with a beautiful one-man performance, where he stopped and hit the ball into the nearest corner.

With 11 goals and 12 assists, Zinckernagel is the first to reach a double-digit number of goals and assists since Ernest Asante achieved the same for Stabæk in 2015.

Bodø / Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen is aware that Zinckernagel is good, but above all because everyone around him is the same.

– Individual players are so good because of the solid team at the bottom. Philip has never been better. He is extreme as a facilitator and goal scorer. It’s good, but it’s also good because the collective is very good, Knutsen tells VG.

– It’s pretty extreme. He is always involved when it comes to goals. It’s a lot of fun for him, and that says a lot about the team too, midfielder Patrick Berg tells VG.

Before the match, the Norwegian Computing Center, on behalf of Aftenposten, had found that there was an 89.7% chance that Bodø / Glimt would win the gold.

That percentage was slightly lower after a win at Sarpsborg and ten points behind Molde in second place.
