Surrogacy Babies Stranded Due to Coronary Restriction – VG

Reuters reviews the hotel that belongs to a Ukrainian clinic in Kiev, which offers egg donation and surrogacy. The news agency has been at the hotel and has depicted rows of small beds with babies waiting for parents.

The Ombudsman for Human Rights of the Ukrainian Parliament, Lyudmyla Denisova, has stated that the video shows that Ukraine has a “massive and complete” surrogacy industry in which babies are marketed as “high-quality products”. She has proposed considering changing the law so that only Ukrainian parents can use the surrogacy offer.

– We were prepared for the negative reaction. Since parents have to quarantine for 14 days, he wanted to speed up the process, says clinic founder Albert Tochilovsky.

According to Reuters, surrogate mothers receive between $ 15,000 and $ 17,000 from the company, that is, between $ 153,000 and $ 174,000 at the current rate. On its website it says that a standard surrogacy package with a waiting period of up to one year costs € 39,900, while the VIP package with a waiting period of up to four months costs € 64,900, 440,000 and 716,000 respectively.

The clinic claims to have clients from all over the world, including the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and Sweden. So far, parents of only 16 of the children have been able to travel to Ukraine.

Surrogacy is not allowed in Norway, but three parliamentary parties have announced that there will be changes to the biotechnology law that will allow egg donation this summer.

Norwegian births on hold

VG has been in contact with the Tammuz Nordic Surrogacy company, an Israeli sub-company from Tammuz, which several Norwegians wish to use as parents. Swedish founder Eduardo Afonso says they made sure three new Norwegian citizens came to the world in late April / May, with their parents on site. He does not say where.

On Friday, VG contacted the clinic in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute of Forensic Medicine (at UiO), which processes DNA samples for surrogate children of Norwegian parents. The clinic and UiO have so far not answered the questions. The Foreign Ministry says they have had a lot to do on Friday, but will try to respond.
