Røe Isaksen fears the crown crisis will increase the danger of having a permanent underclass

He says that his great project in this field should be to fight against the outside world.

– We were already in danger of obtaining a permanent subclass. With the crown crisis, I’m afraid this may accelerate. My big project has to be to prevent it from happening.

It is open to the fact that the Solberg government has failed to halt that development.

– In Norway we have created a society that has incorporated new and large groups into the welfare society. In the past few decades, there have been signs that it may change. We see the contours that not only individuals, but entire families can fall outside. The danger now is that this is cemented, that we will have a permanent underclass that will carry strangers from generation to generation.

– The easiest, then, is to reverse the cuts in money to clarify the job, reintroduce the inheritance tax and increase social assistance?

– No, no, that’s a total derailment. The left’s response to these challenges is forever focus on taxes and benefits.

He says increasing social assistance in isolation will help, but only in the short term, and that risks rather than ending up outside of working life.

– The most important driver of inequality is that you stop outside working life. Is the We have to do something about it. Also, immigration is a very important factor.

Go around the problem:

– Low income is not cause outsiders. The reason why individuals and families fall apart and children grow up in relative poverty is much deeper. Low incomes are a symptom of the underlying causes of strangers. We must observe where inequality and strangers arise. It’s in kindergarten, school, access to work, not on the tax bill.

He says that social policy, education and working life must be seen in their context in a whole new way.

– It requires a completely different way of thinking about politics, even for the right.

He says school and education are by far the most important arenas to equalize differences. No less important for immigrants.

– It is surprising to see the enormous importance of family history for grades in primary school, even in a society of similarity such as Norway. And how it characterizes the rest of your life.

He says fighting against dishonest working life, which especially affects the weakest, is also crucial. It will present a new strategy against labor crime in 2021.

– There are grotesque conditions in some parts of the world of work. People are smuggled into Norway and working under conditions of slavery. Some employers steal workers’ wages. This is done through decorative words like underpayment and low fee payment.

– I am willing to use much harder tools to combat this and I want close cooperation with the parties.

He mentions the government requirements for apprentices in public procurement, but also the Skiens and Oslo model, which has requirements for permanent employment, professional letters and apprentices.

– We will do more, and then I will see if any of the local models can provide a good national policy.

Want to increase union deduction

He says that organized work in Norway is a good basis to combat dishonest players. At the same time, it is concerned with the decline in the level of organization in parts of working life.

Isaksen will support the union organization. ensuring a “good union deduction”.

– The right is for today’s deduction, but in the next program we should not formulate it so that it cannot be increased, as we can understand today’s program. But with that said: I don’t think a higher deduction is a universal key to getting more organized. But a weakened deduction can eventually result in less.

The deduction has been frozen since the Solberg government took office in 2013.
