Jørgine “Funkygine” Vasstrand’s (30) company performed well last year, but already realizes that 2020 will hardly ever be as lucrative as a result of the crown crisis.
– 2020 seemed to be an extension of 2019, before the coronavirus arrived. But everything is different now. I have had to postpone “Funkygine Challenge 2020”, the same with training trips, Vasstrand tells VG.
His company Nordic Lifestyle ended with NOK 7.4 million in revenue in 2019, compared to 4.4 million the year before.

Jørgine Massa Vasstrand, who is her full name, started blogging as Funkygine in 2014 and quickly became a popular blogger and influencer.
In 2018, he published his first book, “Strong on the outside, strong on the inside.” Her second book, “Our Best Pasta Dishes,” arrived last year.
In the fall of 2019, she came in second on the TV2 show “Shall we dance.” She was nominated in 2019 for the “Name of the Year” award that Christine Koht finally won.
In a VG interview last year, she thanked her husband Morten Sundli for aligning herself and taking an extra roof for her in what was her busiest year.
Morten is a very sick guy. It’s almost like I don’t deserve it, Jorgine told VG at the time.
Together, the couple have one son, Milan (1), while Jørgine from earlier has sons Filippa and Socrates.
It was especially during the hardest training period for “Shall we dance” that Jørgine Vasstrand felt bad conscience.
– At first you managed to combine this with everything else, but the closer you get, the more you have to sacrifice. And this week I’m mostly alone in Oslo. This is my last week of bad conscience towards my children and my husband. But I hope he wins “Shall we dance?” He said to VG just before the final, where he had to give up Alexander Hetland.
The Funkygine brand appeared in many constellations in 2019, that’s what its financial statements are all about.
– I’ve had a steady increase since I started in 2014, with a huge spike last year. Then many things happened; The second season of “Vegard X Funkygine” on VGTV, I had my own series, arranged “Funkygine Challenge” in Vallhall, participated in “Shall we dance”, published a book, and released my own bread, he explains.

Jørgine Vasstrand’s participation in “Shall we dance” last fall was well noted, although he ultimately had to lose to top swimmer Aleksander Hetland. It was Hetland who was the last winner of “Shall we dance”.
Vasstrand’s personal trainer part also played the big drum earlier this year when he organized the “Funkygine Challenge 2019” for 1500 participants at Vallhall Stadium in Oslo.
At around the same time as his participation in “Shall we dance”, he also released Funkygine Fiberbrød in collaboration with Bakehuset.

Although 2020 started off well, like most of the others, Jørgine Vasstrand must realize that the crown crisis is also affecting her in the coming months.
