15 years of development left behind: Today Vipps arrived with the great news

(Nettavisen) After 15 years of development, you can now use Vipps in grocery stores, reports Dagens Næringsliv.

Mobile payment has taken a long time to develop, so you can use it in store.

But now Vipps will be available for use in Rema stores in a few months, the store chain promises Dagens Næringsliv.

The ease of use of the good old bank card has led to various mobile solutions to appear, fail and disappear previously for Rema 1000.

Now the new solution, QR code scanning, should be in place:

– We are not saying that this will be the end result, but this is the best technology available now, says Rema’s manager, Trond Bentestuen.

On the way to the solution, Vipps has run into several problems, including with Apple. It’s about transaction costs, finances, and technology options, DN writes.

Norgesgruppen and Coop have opted to a greater extent to develop their own payment solutions through the Aera joint venture. The two largest grocery groups are already in the process of rolling out a new generation of payment terminals:

– Now they are being rolled out continuously. Dozens of stores are already open now, and the launch will be in full swing this fall. The expected completion is for the first quarter of next year, the communications manager at Norgesgruppen, Ingrid Solberg Gundersen, informs DN.
