According to Murray (via Xbox Wire), No Man’s Sky saw more than a million new players jump into the game thanks to its inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass and its launch of Windows 10. The game reached Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC in June. “This, coupled with our crossover game update, means that we are seeing some of our biggest numbers in the game, all playing together regardless of their gaming platform. It is truly humbling, almost two years after the first launch on Xbox One, that there are still so many people interested in exploring our universe, “said Murray.
A new update has also been released for No Man’s Sky. No Man’s Sky: Desolation is a free update that adds abandoned freighters to the game. Players can break through the airlocks (in groups or alone) and explore the procedurally generated interiors of abandoned large stores. According to Hello Games, each ship has its own unique story that can be reconstructed from the text records left by the previous crew. Valuable materials and updates can be found as you explore these ships, but you’ll have to work for them. Defense systems have been left behind, environmental hazards will hinder your progress, and hostile aliens will also play a role.
The update also makes a few balance changes to weapons and enemies for a “faster and more dynamic combat experience”. You can see exactly what’s changed by heading to the No Man’s Sky website and taking a look at the full list of patch notes.
No Man’s Sky is available to play on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC now.
