NJ Weather: When will the snow start on Wednesday? The latest update about winter storm times.

Forecasters say a heavy snowfall expected on Wednesday could spread more than a foot of snow into the atmosphere from most parts of the state, it will not start cranking until noon or evening and will come mainly soon after noon on Thursday, forecasters say.

Snow is expected in Central Jersey around 5pm and in North Jersey around 7pm to 7pm, says meteorologist Nicole Lobiondo.

This is closely matched by Sean Rowland of Weather Works, a Warren County-based private forecasting company. Snow will begin to fall in central Jersey from mid-afternoon to late afternoon, pushing into northern Jersey for the next few hours.

“As you head to New Brunswick, we’re seeing a start time between 2pm and 5pm and then, if you go to the New York (state) border, it probably starts an hour or two later, so it’s normal. Is in the middle for a good part of the state until late afternoon, ”Roland said.

(Note: The National Weather Service released a new snowfall total map at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday, showing 12-18 inches for North Jersey, 18-24 inches earlier than previously forecast. South Jersey could see little of this No accumulation anymore.)

In southern Jersey, the storm will only blow between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., although coastal areas of the Atlantic and Cape May will see only rain for the duration of the storm.

While North Jersey will get all the snow for the storm period, Central Jersey has the storm key where the rain / snow line is arranged.

LoBiondo notes that it will run from southwest to northeast. Towns on the north side of the line will receive mainly snow, and towns south of the line will likely be infected with a mixture of snow and ice at night or around noon.

“We’ll probably start with snow in Trenton, while rain is expected in the Toms River,” Lobiono said.

The winter hurricane is expected to start from New Jersey on Wednesday.

The storm is expected to continue overnight before departing from west to east around 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday, as by then the center of the low-pressure system will be primarily offshore, he said.

According to LoBiondo, there may be a slight delay until 11 a.m. or noon.

Rowland also said that on Thursday, the storm would come to an end.

“We’re still probably ip raining around sunrise on Thursday, but we’re getting ready to finish,” he said, “so we won’t have much on Thursday that day.”
