NFL training camp will start as scheduled

Training camp for the 32 NFL teams will begin as previously scheduled, and veterans will report on July 28.

NFL Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations Troy Vincent emailed the 32 NFL club managers and general coaches notifying them of this on Saturday.

The email, obtained by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, said:

TO [Friday’s] League meeting, members were informed that, according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the reporting dates for this year’s training camp are as follows.

Quarterbacks and injured players – July 23

All other players – July 28

The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans rookies are the first to be scheduled to report, arriving Monday.

All other teams can have a rookie report as early as Tuesday, with veterans following it on July 28.

Meanwhile, as Pelissero added, discussions continue between the NFL and the NFL Players Association about the proper protocol.

Currently, no more than 20 players would be allowed at a time in the team’s facility. This will remain until the NFLPA signs infectious disease emergency response plans for each club, Pelissero added. However, clubs have the right to set reporting dates, according to CBA rules.

Meanwhile, talks between the NFL and the NFLPA about protocols continue.
