The Surface Duo, which is Microsoft Last year announced in October, was previously intended to come in the holiday season 2020. The dual-screen device certainly looks stronger than folding phones out there and could definitely help the company to crack this smart phone market. Given the supposedly dated internals of the device, a Q4 launch might not be a good idea. And that is perhaps why the device will be released sooner than expected.

Paul Thurrott, Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) have been invited to a virtual briefing for the Surface Duo on August 12th. If so, the device is probably ready for showtime.

Leaker Evan Blass also shared some new photos from the Surface Duo and we can see several Google and Microsoft apps in them, including the Edge browser. The default search engine is Google’s, no surprise. After all, this is an Android phone.
This is the AT & T-locked version, and in line with Blass’ earlier prediction that Microsoft will cooperate with the carrier to release the device in the US. This means that it can be exclusive carrier at launch.
De Surface Duo will likely be paired with 5.6-inch AMOLED displays with a 360-degree hinge. The combined real estate will be 8.3-inches and the device has no cover screen.
It will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 and offers only LTE connectivity. It is tipped to offer 6GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB non-expandable storage. It is expected that they will have a single 11MP sensor and a 3,460mAh battery. The Surface Pen will also be supported.
Price details have not been revealed yet, but it will probably cost a nice penny.
What Surface Duo lacks on the hardware side will likely be compensated on the software front. If leaks should continue, Microsoft has worked really hard on the software of the device and has even got a company specifically for the phone and its successor.
Of course, this is not to say that there is no real substitute for powerful specs and the lack thereof 5G connectivity may surprise some buyers.
