N.C. Weather: Severe weather causes most damage in central North Carolina

RAILWAY, NC (WTVD) – Severe weather warnings lashed central North Carolina on Thursday, but damaged much of the region.

Despite several hurricane warnings, the only damage reported in the region occurred in Orange County.

In the Cedar Grove neighborhood, trees were cut down, the roof was damaged, a basketball hoop slipped in half and a trampoline was seen flying across the street.

Tylor Crisco and his mom scattered in the bathroom as the hurricane wreaked havoc outside their home.

“Our power started to flow and then the power just went out and then it went out really loud,” Crisco said.

Their barn is no longer standing, one truck overturned and moved 6 feet away, and insulation from another house now covers snow-like tree branches.

The good news: No one was hurt.

“It’s a miracle to know everyone. I don’t know how it wasn’t our home. I’m so glad it wasn’t our home. All this can be changed, we can’t,” Crisco said. .

In the far west of North Carolina, a little more damage was caused by the storm. Possible tornadoes were reported in Guilford and Alamans counties.

Videos with Interstate 40 in Alamans County move the big funnel cloud in the area. An apartment complex in the area is reported to have suffered 1 million in damage.

The National Weather Service is deploying a survey team to look into the damage and determine if it was caused by a tornado or straight line winds.

That team will begin seeing the damage in Guilford County at 8 a.m. and then work its direction east.

The storm had moved out of the region by Thursday night, but some of the rain would last until Friday.
The temperature on Friday started in the 50s, but will get really cold as the day progresses. You can expect it to be moving around right now for most of the day.

Saturday and Sunday temperatures will be seen in the 50s, with more sun Saturdays and more temperatures Sunday.
