Dear Ones, we are gathered to mourn the loss and celebrate the memory of all. 82 from Microsoft retail stores. They became disabled as a result of complications due to the current coronavirus pandemic in mid March; its parent company, Microsoft, chose to take the sick stores out of life support today.

He was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, on October 22, 2009, amid the intoxicating joy of an Ashley Tisdale concert (apparently), Microsoft Store spent its entire life yearning to achieve the cunning and ubiquity of its older cousin, the Apple Store. Personally, I can’t vouch for the way one compared to the other, as I’ve never stepped foot in a Microsoft store, but they said they had technical support staff, devices to test, and game consoles to play with. Above all, I remember people protesting outside of its iconic 5th Avenue location in New York.

As the concept of “shopping” in a “store” became anathema to an increasingly greedy audience, Microsoft stores were closed, and their 2,000 associates they were reassigned to remote customer service. A company spokesperson said CNBC that “all Microsoft employees will have a chance to stay,” although it is unclear in what capacity.

As if to heal the open wound of the stores’ absence, Microsoft’s stock price barely budged after the closing news was released. Even if it was for purely fiscal reasons, Microsoft in terms of optics is coming out ahead of Apple, which has now closed, reopened and then re-closed dozens of its stores in response to the pandemic.

The Microsoft Store is survived by its digital counterpart and the company’s 1-800 technical support hotline. We encourage you to leave your memories of the deceased below.
