TO UPDATE: Megan Thee Stallion has released another statement about the incident last weekend in which she says that “she suffered gunshot wounds as a result of a crime that was committed against me and was done with the intention of physically harming me.”
“Black women are so unprotected and we have many things to protect the feelings of others regardless of ours,” she wrote on Twitter. “It may be fun for you guys on the internet and just another messy topic to talk about, but this is my real life and I’m really hurt and traumatized.”
Megan and an unidentified woman were in a car with rapper Tory Lanez when he was arrested Sunday morning for having a concealed weapon in the vehicle, after officers received reports that Lanez was present when they were shot outside of a house in Hollywood Hills. Megan (real name: Megan Pete) was not arrested, but TMZ reported that she had suffered a foot injury due to broken glass on the floor of the car. However, according to Megan’s statement, she was killed by an assailant who has not yet named.
Some unverified reports on Thursday claimed that Lanez was the shooter, but this was not confirmed by police and no statements have been made, although a Los Angeles police spokesman confirmed to Variety on Friday afternoon an assault opened with a deadly weapon investigation based on Megan’s statements. No suspect has been named and no one is in custody in connection with that investigation, the representative said.
“The narrative reported on Sunday morning events is inaccurate and I would like to set the record straight,” Megan posted on Instagram on Wednesday. “On Sunday morning, I suffered bullet wounds as a result of a crime committed against me and carried out with the intention of physically harming me. They never arrested me, the police took me to the hospital where they operated on me to extract the bullets. I am incredibly grateful that I am alive and that I am expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night. I am currently focused on my recovery so I can get back into my life and make music again as soon as possible. “
She added in a comment on Instagram: “I was never arrested. This whole experience was a revelation and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took me this experience to learn to protect my energy. “
A police spokesperson told TMZ: “At that time, Megan Thee [Stallion] He was with the police and did not report that he was the victim of any crime. And Los Angeles police have received no additional information at this time. “The Los Angeles Times quotes two sources familiar with the investigation as saying that” he was showing a wound on the scene consistent with the knock of a broken glass. ” The police report only says: “One person was transported to the hospital and received medical treatment for a foot injury.”
The representatives of Megan and Tory Lanez did not immediately respond to VarietyRequest for more information.
Shortly before Megan released her statement, TMZ posted a distant video of Lanez’s arrest, in which we see Megan leaving the vehicle with her hands raised and then handcuffed. Another woman is seen near the vehicle, Megan’s possible friend, Kelsey Nicole, who posted on Instagram who was present at the shooting (but was not the person with the gun), in response to “rumors that I shot Megan. ” TMZ released more video footage later on Wednesday, in which Megan is seen exiting the vehicle with her hands up, walking shaky and leaving bloody footprints.
Earlier in the evening, Megan and Tory Lanez (real name: Daystar Peterson) attended a party at Kylie Jenner’s house; Megan posted a video of the three of them lounging in a pool before being interrupted by an invisible off-screen man telling them that the music had to be rejected because “PD is here.”
Later that night, the two were in a vehicle outside a Hollywood home, where shots were fired into the air. The two left the scene with an unidentified woman in the car; Police received a description of the vehicle and arrested Lanez soon after. They found a gun in the car and accused him of carrying a concealed weapon in his vehicle. He has not been charged in connection with the previous incident where shots were fired into the air.
While some reports speculated that Jenner was in the car with them at the time of Lanez’s arrest, a Jenner representative told him Variety Tuesday, “She was not in the car.”
According to the police report, Lanez was arrested for serious crimes at 4:40 am Sunday and released on $ 35,000 bail about six hours later. He has a court date scheduled for October 13.
