Dog breeders of this breed respond very well to the German Shepherd kennel “Wild Wolf” founded by Živilė, calling it the best kennel in Lithuania. However, Ž.Čepulienė itself does not acknowledge such an assessment and says that there are better kennels and responsible breeders in Lithuania.
Recently, a new resident, a black rooster, moved into Živilė’s house.
“Cock in the bed,” I said twitching, sending a photo from Živilė’s facebook to my colleagues, where a cock was comfortably sitting on the bed. I can honestly say: I’ve never seen a cock in bed.
15 minute conversation with Ž.Čepulienė – about his pets, the war rooster Felix and the feelings they smell.
– Živila, how long has the kennel been established?
– Officially registered in 2000.
– Animals in your life – since childhood?
– Yes. I already knew in fifth grade that I would be a biologist. All programs on animals were reviewed and stored on video cassettes. He almost knew everything. When I was a child, my dad took me on several hikes, showed me, introduced me. Nature and animals were present all the time.
– However, he chose the profession not of biologists, but of cynologists. You are an official. How did you become her?
– Before working in public service, I was busy with dogs for a long time, before starting a kennel, I was interested in them. I bought my first dog in 1991, then it was a kennel and I started working in public administration in 2006. Why? It’s hard to say, but when you are interested in dogs, there are people in your environment who are interested at the same time. Then someone told me that a contest for the position of cynologist had been announced. So I started working here.

– But when you started to be interested in dogs, when you set up a kennel, they were German shepherds. Why this particular breed?
– Sometimes I wonder that. Maybe it came at a time when old movies were being shown? In them, the character was Leshe or a German shepherd. Two options.
My first dog was a collie, but I always wanted German. Later, several other breeds appeared in Lithuania, which are beautiful, and it seemed to me that next time I would already have a dog of another breed. But so did the German Shepherds.
– You moved from Vilnius to the premises of the old mansion. Was there space in the capital due to the large number of animals?
– No, not for that. After all, there are not a hundred dogs in my kennel and those who live as members of the family. Parenting is my activity, my creation.
It happened in life that I had to change my place of residence. He lived in a country house in Vilnius and had no problem: he could also raise a litter of puppies there.
I have not had any conflict with my neighbors over animals. On the contrary, dogs were always praised for being beautiful and neat. By the way, I raised three dogs even when the kids were small and we lived in a 50 square foot apartment on the fifth floor. So I didn’t reproduce.
It was necessary to show the Felix dogs in the cage and explain that no, we really won’t eat it.
As for the neighbors, I try not to disturb anyone and I want people to see: you can live comfortably and beautifully with dogs.
– When a colleague recommended talking to you, he said that your kennel is the best in Lithuania.
– No, I will object. I’m not the best and I’m not aiming for that. There are people who invest more and live longer, grow with more determination, for exhibitions. My kennel is perhaps the most familiar.
– And what is that good kennel, Živile?
– Some will say that the good one is the one whose dogs occupy the highest places in shows, competitions. And for me, the most important thing is that people are happy with my dogs. If they’re happy, if they come back a second time, then I’ve done my job.
– What does it take for a dog to have the right manners and character?
– First, determined by genetics. Raising and socializing a dog goes a long way, but everything resists the genetic basis.
Each dog has its own character and each owner demands different things from his dog. After all, even children who grow up in the same family have a different character. Dogs too.

– From your Facebook posts, I realized that your dogs are friendly with your guests when they return home.
– Yes, they are very happy guests. But my dogs know how to be of all kinds. They are both loving and hold onto my hands at home, but I wouldn’t recommend coming to my place when I’m not there.
– We’re talking, but I didn’t ask how many dogs live in your house.
– Nine German Shepherds, a Russian toy (this is, by the way, the exact name of this breed of dog). Eleven more cubs have recently appeared. They are waiting for their hosts.
– You’re a cynologist, so there’s probably a service dog among your four-legged population?
– Yes. His name is Ray and he lives with me. Only when something reaches the guests, do I tell them: don’t say it’s not mine, it’s a state dog. He is sacred convinced that he is my dog. Ray is no different from other dogs that grow at home. You only have the privilege of going to work.
He knows this perfectly well, and when he sees me in uniform, he realizes that this is our time. And if the car door in the yard is open, he himself goes to the official car and waits for me.
Ray is no different from other dogs that grow at home. You only have the privilege of going to work.
– Can Ray be called an officer? Well, not just a dog, but an officer.
– I’d like to call it that. I think it has a slightly different name in the accounting documents. (laughs) But I call it official.
Service dogs are trained to find one or another object or thing. Customs dogs search for drugs, psychotropic substances, tobacco, and money.
– Dogs look for everything by smell, right? But I never thought that money had a smell.
– Must, and very strong. I remember from the old days when there were no cards and people had more cash. That smell is very strong, specific. I don’t even know what to compare.
– What other animals are still in your house?
– Three cats and a cock.

– Not just a cock, but a curly black cock.
– I saw photos of these cocks a few years ago. Not only are they black themselves, their bones are black and their meat. Is – Cemani chicken breed bird. It made a great impression on me. And anyway, the rooster is a kind of bird mystification if we look at the legends about these birds. I turned on, hinted such a cock.
One of my colleagues is a poultry farmer, so I asked him to buy such a rooster if he had the chance. And the word becomes flesh: the opportunity has taken place and appeared. Anyway, I have had many animals in my life: both reptiles and raccoons, as well as large parrots. So I can say that the rooster at home pollutes less than the large parrot.
– What her name?
– Felix.
– Judging by the photos that Felix has on your computer or in bed, does he live as a member of the family, not in what kind of hen?
– Yes, as a member of the family. By the way, I would like to have both a chicken coop and chickens. But for now, as I joke, Felix is going home woman I don’t let him, so he lives alone and is a member of our family. I only lock him in a cage at night because I need to control the situation. I consider animals that are in the food chain of others.
– How does a bird get along with cats and dogs?
– There are roosters conceited animals. And although he hits cats, he ignores his own, he doesn’t touch them. Oh, and the cats that Felix avoids.
Agree with the dogs, of course it took time, the dogs showed Felix in the cage and explained that no, we really won’t eat it. They get used to it, the rooster gets on the dogs and encloses their fur.
– What is Felix’s style in general?
– Warrior. You distinguish strangers very well, but you also weigh your options very intelligently. He knows that it is better to attack secretly and if the opponent is weaker, he can be defeated. But because of that, no strange cats or dogs enter my yard.
– I listen to you and I wonder how long it will take to be enough for all the animals.
– I’m probably a very happy person because I don’t count the time allotted to animals. When you are not in a hurry, you guess everything: to play, pat and go for a walk, there is time to train.
– When there are many animals in the house, the owner himself is tied to the house. Can you afford, for example, a two-week vacation?
– May l. I dived really hard at one point so I had to travel. But when you live with dogs it starts to surround you canine people. If I am out of the house, there is someone else in the house. Helped by mom, daughter, friends.
– Do you take refuge from stray animals?
– Yes, I am protected, but I am not such a good person to find someone to help her. Shelter for those I have just found on my way. I also had to raise stray animals.

– Živile, in your opinion, how do animals understand us? Sometimes I think to myself that my cat lacks very little, only the ability to speak. For some reason, it seems to me that they understand a lot, more than we do.
– Much and I understand. There are documentaries, investigations on how a dog understands at 3-4 years, which “knows” about 260 words. I mean those dogs that are allowed to live among socially active people.
– Okay, bye? An intelligent animal too?
– If much. Cats understand the same thing as a dog, but their approach to everything is different. The dog seeks more contact with humans and cats seek more users. Your attitude, need is different.
When it comes to dogs, when we have problems, when we cry or rejoice, the dog feels. On the one hand, dogs see our faces and separate emotions from their faces very well, another thing is chemistry. Animals smell a lot of everything because their body is a chemical laboratory. And our feelings smell.
