Kaunas Žalgiris’s team, which defeated Moscow region’s team Chimki in the Euroleague round of 16 match in Russia, returned to Lithuania.
On Saturday evening, the people from Žalgiris who won the Mytiščiai stadium in the Moscow suburbs moved to the airport immediately after the match and flew back to Vilnius on a charter flight, where all members of the delegation were screened for COVID-19.
On Sunday morning, “Žalgiris” received a response that all the test results of the team members are negative.
Žalgiris played in Russia without a midfielder Joffrey Lauvergne’as, for which a COVID-19 test on Wednesday had shown a positive result.
J. Lauvergne, who was isolated in Kaunas and did not feel any symptoms of COVID-19, conducted additional tests on Friday and Saturday. Both tests were negative.
After receiving two consecutive negative COVID-19 test results, “Žalgiris” will approach the responsible authorities so that the results of J.Lauvergne’s first test are recognized as erroneous and the midfielder can terminate the self-isolation process.
