Winter driving and car maintenance: warn against these mistakes

[ad_1]

One of the most important safety requirements is suitable winter tires with a tread depth of at least 5 mm. It is also necessary to check that the lamps are properly adjusted, that all lamps are on and that the lenses are sufficiently transparent. Improper maintenance of the lights will eventually cover the surface with a matte layer, which will make the light dimmer, shorten the illumination of the road, the lights will not form the correct light beam and the edge of the road and other users of the road will have poor visibility.

It is important to remove snow not only from the car’s windshield, but also from the hood and roof before driving. It is recommended to check that the windshield wipers are not frozen before turning them on. If they are frozen, they should be very carefully lifted from the glass, not forcibly ripped. Doing so will protect not only the windshield wipers but also the windshield wiper mechanism.

When the temperature drops, it is necessary to change the window cleaner from summer to winter (down to -25 ° C) in time, to wash the car windows with it to prevent the nozzles from freezing. The front car windshield should be cleaned not only from the outside but also from the inside. Windows often fog up and freeze from the inside due to moisture that builds up in the cab. Therefore, it is recommended to change the car mats for more practical ones: rubber. Its maintenance will be easier and there will be no moisture left in the car cabin, less wet glass. If the fogging of the windows does not subside, it may be necessary to replace the cabin air filter.

Also, it is advisable to lubricate the door locks with a special grease, lubricate the car door with silicone, the boot rubber against freezing. They should always be taken care of after washing the car, after opening and leaving the car door and trunk open for at least a few minutes. This way, the rubbers won’t stick together.

At low temperatures. the battery is low or completely discharged. This usually happens when a car with a no-new battery has been idle for a few days.
