According to Professor Lauras Bielinis from Vytautas Magnus University (Vytautas Magnus University), the losses of the presidential team are determined by several reasons. One of them is his youth.
“It just came to our knowledge then. Young people tend to have too much energy at work, they may feel tired or exhausted in this job. On the other hand, the peculiarities of this job are such that perhaps their attitude towards the kitchen work has changed, they have imagined it differently and maybe now they want to change jobs, “said L. Bielinis.
According to him, G. Nausėda’s own expectations and interests can also have an impact.
“We have to understand that the president is probably looking for dynamic and timely opportunities to react to situations, evaluate and correct them. Apparently, he is also looking for a team that matches his interests and values. This, I think, is the most important reason”, said the portal. lrytas.lt the professor explained.
He says he does not believe that some of the president’s speeches, which are controversial in society, have also contributed to the change of the team.
“The team is the executor of the president and the transmitter of his thoughts. They cannot add anything on their own and they don’t. The president probably needs a different style, a more effective rhetoric. Naturally, he’s looking for it and that’s why his team is changing, “said L. Bielinis.
V. Valentineinavičius: the presidential team is weak
Professor at the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), political scientist dr. Virgis Valentinavičius said that other presidents of the country also changed teams, so he does not see a more pronounced collapse. Still, the political scientist pointed out that it is not the most important people who work in the presidency who are changing, and quality does not add to that.
“I think the biggest problem with this presidency is that there is a great lack of competencies in important areas: internal politics, relations with the Government, the Seimas. There is a lot of amateurism and the national politics group is absolutely weak, with communication professionals dominating everywhere. These latest changes do not touch those weaker areas at all, they are insignificant, ”said the portal. lrytas.lt commented V. Valentinavičius.
Speaking of the possible reasons for the changes in the presidency, the political scientist points out that his image in society is very important to G. Nausėda, and does not rule out that the people of the presidency are also persecuted by personalities.
“It is very difficult to get rid of the impression that the most important thing to the president is his appearance: his public relations. That commitment and focus on public relations means that it is difficult for the president to focus on meaningful policy, on something that brings ideas to the fore. Lithuanian people, it still seems much more important to him what people think of him than what he could actually do to people.
And the other thing, apparently, are personalities. One of the events that long defined the presidency of G. Nausėda was the expulsion of three journalists from the presidency. He explained that this is his personal birthday and he invites those he likes. Whether the president likes something or not plays an important role.
That little customization, personal accounts are too often seen in the actions of the president, from journalists to ministers who must calm down.
When people in the presidency start to move like this, they start to suspect that someone didn’t like something about the president, and that’s enough to say goodbye. “In addition to the general style of the presidency, the president gives too much food to such suspicions,” said the MRU political scientist.
When asked if these reasons could continue to lead to a change of people in the presidency, he considered that the team was basically not strong from the beginning.
“When the president chose the team, it was already difficult to say that it was very strong. Hardly any change could be called its strengthening. The team seems to be weakening or staying at the same level. The president’s idea that it is a good team, apparently, does not completely coincide with the public’s idea of what a good team is, ”said V. Valentinavičius.
More comrades are also retiring
In addition to Algė Budrytė and Antanas Bubnelis, two other members of the team are retiring from the presidency. He is also joined by two new advisers in the Economics and Law groups.
A. Budrytė will be replaced by Agila Barzdienė as Chancellor, Raminta Stanaitytė-Česniulienė, former spokesperson for Finance Minister Vilius Šapoka, will henceforth lead the Presidency communication. Before that, she worked as an advisor to the Minister of Finance, as a former public relations consultant, handled communications for Rimi Lietuva, worked as a journalist and presenter.
In this position, he will replace Ridas Jasiulionis, who will transfer from the position of Chief of Communication in the Presidency to others, will coordinate the cooperation of the Presidency with public organizations.
According to the Presidency, A. Budrytė “intends to seek new professional challenges”, he will resign on March 12. A.Budrytė headed the headquarters of the electoral campaign of President Gitanas Nausėda.
A. Bubnelis will finish his job as President in mid-March. According to the Presidency, he decided to return to the private sector.
Before joining the presidency, A. Bubnelis was head of corporate affairs and public relations at Bitė Lietuva for two years, having previously worked at the water supply company Vilniaus vandenys, the telecommunications company Teo, public relations companies and the BNS news agency.
Ieva Elenbergienė, who has decided to continue her career in another professional field, is also leaving the communication group. Councilor Liutauras Galinis decided to resign from the Office of the President for personal reasons.
Elena Mickevičienė joined the team of the Economic and Social Policy Group on Thursday, replacing Vaidas Česnulevičiūtė, who became the Deputy Minister of Finance in December. Until now, E. Mickevičienė has worked for the agency “Invest in Lithuania”.
Simona Vilkelytė, who most recently served as an assistant judge at the Lithuanian Supreme Court, will start working at the Presidential Law Group on March 8.
This is not the first time the team has played
The then Chief National Security Adviser, former Armed Forces Commander Jonas Vytautas Žukas and Head of the Education, Science and Culture Group Sonata Šulcė also resigned from the presidency in June. Aistis Zabarauskas, who headed the Communication Group, also said goodbye to the team, assisting G.Nausėda during the elections. All three advisers have been part of the President’s team since the beginning of his term.
At that time, G. Nausėda explained that the councilors were retiring for personal reasons.
“It just came to our notice then. The three consultants will really change their job profile. We discussed it with them, we discussed it a bit earlier. These are completely planned things. We just wanted it to be available to the public immediately. I absolutely appreciate everyone. them, each of whom has enriched our team in their own way. I just know, politics is the kind of thing that makes it very difficult to tolerate competition from other things.
It’s no secret that two out of three counselors have young children, families who also require care. Sometimes that counseling job is so exhausting that there is simply no time for other things. We talked about it, we discussed it and I understand those reasons very well, “he said.
“On the other hand, I understand that this is an opportunity to renew, recharge our activities, replace some people with others, which would bring new motivation, new energy,” emphasized G. Nausėda.
