“The likely second wave of COVID-19 is very concerning: it is possible in the fall with seasonal flu and possibly measles,” he told the British newspaper The Independent.
Kluge recalled that the coronavirus pandemic was not over and that 32 of the 43 European countries that had previously imposed restrictive measures on COVID-19 were now alleviating them. According to him, its abolition should take place gradually, decisively and prudently.
“It just caught our eye then. Nothing has changed. All measures to control morbidity must remain. This is essential,” he emphasized.
At the same time, a WHO spokesperson acknowledged that “self-isolation has not changed the situation with COVID-19, as there are no effective vaccines or medications to treat the disease.”
He recalled that humanity will have to live with this new coronavirus, highlighting that it is mutating, which greatly complicates the fight against this killer virus.
