At a press conference on Friday, Ryan noted that “strains and viruses have spread worldwide during the pandemic.”
According to him, many of the viruses registered in New York “came from Europe”, but this does not mean that Europe was definitely the main source of the virus.
A WHO spokesperson mentioned that the analysis of the genetic strains carried out so far shows that the virus was transmitted to the Chinese population by humans other than animals directly.
Ryan called for a thorough investigation of the recent outbreak in Beijing to determine how the import cases caused such a high number of infections.
In late December, when the new coronavirus was first detected in Uhane, officials speculated that humans were more likely to have contracted it from wildlife, although it was not exactly what the animal species might have been.
The latest coronavirus outbreak in Beijing is related to the Xinfadi wholesale food market.
The outbreak has already forced officials to ban residents of “medium or high risk” urban areas, and other residents who wish to leave Beijing must undergo nucleic acid testing. Schools are also closed.
Authorities closed 11 markets and disinfected thousands of Beijing food and beverage companies.
