ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Sacramento Kings signed a one-year contract with an athlete invited to the 33rd call-up a decade ago.
Whiteside represented the team for the first two years of his career, after which he was fired. He then migrated for two seasons between the D-League, Lebanon and China, before the Miami Heat gave him a chance to catch up.
Whiteside, who played successfully for the Portland Trail Blazers last season, was one of the team leaders.
He collected an average of 14.8 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.8 block shots per game.
