When there is a lot of snow on the roads, the cars end up in ditches one after another, crashing into trees.

Julija Samorokovskaja, representative of the Vilnius County Police, informed the BNS that from 7.30 in the morning until the afternoon, about 20 car complaints had been received in all districts of the county.

According to her, during most events, people did not suffer. Most of the reports were of cars entering the ditch or obstructing trees.

In one incident, around the 10th morning, a tow truck crushed a young man who was snowing from a car. Doctors took the victim, who had pain in his leg and back, to the hospital for an examination.

At approximately 2 pm, two cars collided on Ozo Street in the capital, injuring two people.

Vilnius County Police received around 60 more reports of fallen trees on the road.

“There have also been reports of broken power lines and damaged traffic signs,” Samorokovskaya said.

Kristina Janulevičienė, Alytus County Police Representative, told BNS that by the afternoon, more than 60 reports had been received in this region about events that could endanger traffic safety, 14 of which were traffic accidents. .

“They ran off the road, they hit a tree, they collided, they did not agree with the fault: technical traffic accidents in which people did not suffer,” said K. Janulevičienė.

According to her, most of the events involved are tractors and other heavy vehicles.

“They do not exit at roundabouts or get stuck when entering, so-called” scissor “tugs occur when they block the road,” said an Alytus police representative.

Other complaints received by the police refer to obstacles on the road, such as fallen trees or broken branches. Most of these reports were received from the forested districts of Prienai, Varėna and Druskininkai.

“Of course, we do not receive some reports, because often people, on their own, enter a ditch, take out a car or remove obstacles,” said K. Janulevičienė.

Kaunas County Police Representative Odeta Vaitkevičienė informed BNS that seven road accidents had been reported in Kaunas County by noon.

It was previously reported that truck accidents caused congestion in both directions on the Vilnius-Kaunas highway.

The Fire and Rescue Department told BNS that firefighters traveled the country more than 40 times to remove fallen trees from the road or power lines Tuesday night and morning.

According to the Hydrometeorological Service, on Tuesday there will be a snowstorm in southern, central and northern Lithuania, and snow in other parts of the country. Precipitation is not present only in the Klaipeda region.
