The uninterruptible power supply will be provided by ESO
The contracts of the population entering the first stage of the reform with the public electricity supply provider expire in 2020. on December 31, writes the press release.
And while some residents fear that the contract will expire and electricity will no longer flow to the home, an ESO representative assures that this certainly will not happen: “Even after a contract with a public provider expires, residents can be assured of supply. electric. Electricity will continue to flow without interruptions or restrictions to lamps, electric kettles, refrigerators, chargers and all other household appliances in the house, without which we can no longer imagine modern life. If the contract with the public supplier is terminated and a new contract with the independent energy supplier is not signed in time, the guaranteed supplier will supply electricity to the home. ESO will provide the warranty supply service throughout Lithuania, as provided by law “

Failure to sign a contract with an independent electricity supplier on time and to ensure a guaranteed supply does not require the resident to do anything, such as contacting ESO and reporting the situation. The real estate object left without a contract by the guarantee provider is transferred automatically.
Guaranteed delivery – 6 additional months. deadline to choose an independent provider
However, R. Radvila points out that the guaranteed supply, while allowing residents to not experience additional inconvenience or worry, is not a continuous power supply service: guaranteed power supply can be provided to residents for up to 6 months. During this period, but without waiting for it to end, consumers are encouraged to choose and contract an independent electricity supplier.
“However, it is not recommended to wait for the last day of delivery of the guarantee, since contracts with independent suppliers do not come into force immediately. For example, if the contract was concluded before December 10 of this year, the supplier electricity will begin to supply from the first day of the following month, that is, January 1, 2021. If the agreement were concluded after December 10 (but before January 10, 2021), it would take effect the next month, that is, February 1, 2021 ”, said R. Radvila.

Those who do not choose will pay more
It should also be in the interest of consumers to choose an independent electricity supplier as soon as possible and not to be guaranteed supply. Because guaranteed electricity supply is more expensive.
Another important point: the guaranteed supply price will never be completely stable, as it is calculated based on NordPool’s average energy exchange price for last month multiplied by a factor of 1.25 (i.e. electricity as a product will be 25% more expensive than its exchange price). .

The guaranteed supply conditions are regulated by the Electricity Law.
The guarantee offer will be maintained after the reform
It is important to note that the guaranteed supply service will not be provided until June 30 of next year or until the end of the energy reform in 2023. The guaranteed supply will continue to be an additional alternative to the withdrawal of the customer from an independent supplier, but without the temporary choice of another independent provider. Furthermore, when the consumer changes from one independent provider to another, if according to the terms of the contract, the previous or future provider does not provide uninterrupted power supply, in case of malfunction of the independent provider, etc.
“The guaranteed supply that ESO is committed to providing to the people of our country can be compared to insurance: we will receive electricity from an independent supplier, but if that happens, we will be sure that the guaranteed supply will always reach our home,” said Radvila .
