“Next Easter weekend will be challenging – pandemic fatigue, some people choose to ignore movement restrictions. However, we would like to responsibly remind you that only necessary travel is currently possible, and you need to have a document that proves the necessity of the trip with you. We are cooperating with the police, inspections are being initiated at the passenger stations, which will continue during the holiday weekend, “says Linas Baužys, director of LTG Link.
L. Baužys urges passengers to act consciously and, if travel is not necessary, to return the travel ticket. This can be done on the train-bilietas.lt website, if the ticket was purchased online, or at the ticket offices.
Passengers are reminded that travel is only possible if:
- Go to the municipality of your residence.
- Traveling to work when the workplace is in another municipality.
- When the municipality owns a property.
- For the loss of loved ones.
- For medical services.
- When traveling to stations that serve international passenger routes.
According to the police, you must have a document showing the need to travel or a photo of it on your phone. This could be, for example, real estate ownership documents, a statement of residency, or a referral to a doctor. If a passenger traveling by train cannot provide the police officer with a document proving the need for the trip, he will be fined. The landings are not planned.
LTG Link notes that the trains have improved safety measures: distances are maintained, passengers can disinfect their hands, and masks are worn. The trains themselves are thoroughly disinfected every day.
LTG Link is part of the Lithuanian Railways Group, since 2019. operating as a separate company responsible for train travel in Lithuania and abroad. The company’s goal is to become the first choice for travelers and create a new travel experience by promoting the choice of a comfortable, safe and environmentally friendly vehicle: the train. In recent years, the number of passengers on LTG Link has increased steadily and, in 2019, a record number of people took train trips – 5.5 million.
