K. Girnius says that on Friday the president may present his assessment after meeting with all the candidates. In his opinion, G. Nausėda can be cautious about nominations because he has received several criticisms in the past.

If current candidates are rejected, according to K. Girnius, it would not necessarily be better to find new candidates.

Liberal movement member Eugenijus Gentvilas said he was not seeking a change for the candidates proposed by his party.
“As I understand it, both candidates of our party are satisfied with the president, so we are not looking for other candidates yet, but as a precaution I am beginning to ‘shake up’ possible alternatives if that happens,” said a member of Seimas on the program Delfi Day.
If it were necessary to find a possible replacement for candidates proposed by other parties, he said, the candidacy could be found within two days. E. Gentvilas also argues that if the Freedom Party candidate for Justice Minister Evelina Dobrovolska were rejected, the Liberal Movement could nominate its candidate immediately.
“We have really discussed the candidates for all the ministries and we have the candidates,” he said.
Gentville says it may partly justify a lengthy process, but it also sees potential problems.
“In a way, it could justify this slow process if the STT and other special services collect information about the ministerial candidates at the same time to make sure that these people don’t really have skeletons in the closet. But in that case, rejecting the candidates certainly would not have held back the newly nominated candidate, it would be even worse, the untested candidate would become minister.
I see another problem that can happen. Currently, all the ministers, together with I. Šimonyte, are preparing the Government’s program, each in their own field. If a candidate is rejected and a new candidate is appointed, albeit well, that person will tell me why I should not work according to my schedule. A politician nominated for a minister has to prepare part of his program himself, ”said a member of the Liberal Movement on Delfi’s day.
Mr. Nausėda has already met with 10 of the 14 ministerial candidates. His spokesman, A. Bubnel, said Tuesday that the president had doubts about some of the ministerial candidates, but did not reveal specific names.
