Compared to the Seimas elections held in 2016, this year turnout is much higher in early voting. 141,864, or 5.95 percent, voters expressed their will in advance within four days. This year, early voting in the second round of the Seimas elections took place from Monday to Thursday. Voters vote at home on Friday and Saturday.
Of the 2,310,859 eligible voters, 159,324 voted early and 55,138 exercised their right to vote at home. 12,147 voters voted on special issues.
According to data provided by the CEC, voters in the constituency of Nalšia Sur (15.86 percent) and Molėtai-Širvintos (15.06 percent) voted more actively during early voting. Voters from the Paneriai-Grigiškės constituency were the least active (3.88%).
The opportunity to vote early was available to voters who, for various reasons, were unable to vote at the polls during re-election. Voters can still vote at home on Saturday.
The members of the Electoral Commission will visit voters aged 70 and over, people who cannot work due to illness, people with disabilities and the people who care for them. Voters with COVID-19 and self-isolation also have the opportunity to vote at home.
During the second round of the elections, voters must complete the formation of a new Seimas. 68 members of single-member constituencies will elect their member from the Seimas. Only for the voters of the Antakalnis, Šalčininkai-Vilnius and Medininkai electoral districts, the elections have already ended, because during the first round they elected their representatives for the new Seimas.
The second round of the parliamentary elections will take place on October 25.
