Visitors to the Picnic bistro cafe in Vingis Park over the weekend were fined and the owners were summoned to the municipality to explain.

Police Commissioner General Renatas Požėla told a news conference on Monday that officials had reacted to information published in the media.

“Our officials met with officials from the municipality’s Public Order Department and saw the violations,” R. Požėla told reporters.

“All visitors to the café were fined and the owner of the company received an invitation to come to the Vilnius city municipality, probably for the start of administrative procedures,” he said.

Police Department spokesman Ramūnas Matonis BNS specified that six visitors to the cafe had been fined and that its owner was being invited to an administrative hearing.

The delfi.lt news portal reported on Saturday that people gathered on the covered terrace of the Vingis Park cafe.

The Code of Administrative Offenses provides for a fine of 500 to 1.5 thousand for infractions of the quarantine requirements. EUR, for managers of legal entities or other responsible persons – from 1,5 thousand. up to 6 thousand. euros.
