A 78-month-old Seimas member who had been vaccinated against the coronavirus said he was diagnosed with the disease on Saturday, ahead of a planned visit to Estonia.

“They invited me to make a working visit to Estonia with the president of Seimas. As the whole group tested, I also went together. Although I was vaccinated, I wanted to get tested together with the whole group,” A. Vinkus told BNS.

The parliamentarian said he felt “very good.”

“I am absolutely asymptomatic, there is no temperature, the isolation ends on Monday. I work remotely, preparing for a faction meeting, working in the Baltic Assembly. I work at full speed. Once again, I am convinced of the benefits of vaccination and will support it even more, ”said A. Vinkus.

The politician said he had been vaccinated with Pfizer after receiving the second dose of the vaccine in March. Mr. Vinkus said he did not know where he might be infected.

At the end of May, COVID-19 was set for Aušrinė Norkienė, the eldest of the “peasant” faction.

The MP later told the SNB that she had received a positive response after traditional tests from Seimas members on Wednesdays. A. Norkienė was vaccinated with the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine in March.

Due to contact with politics, two colleagues in the group had to isolate themselves. One of them is Agnė Širinskienė.

BNS MEP said she was not diagnosed with the disease. A. Širinskienė also said that he had no further information about other colleagues who may be ill.

“I didn’t really listen,” he said.

To date, COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the Seimas in November-February.
