The two municipalities and LAKD signed a tripartite agreement in 2019, according to which it is planned to install a right turn with a tunnel under the road and the adjacent street next to the road by 2024; processes are planned to take time to take adjacent parcels for public needs.

However, the community is asking for the issues to be resolved more quickly and is outraged that they are not receiving any knowledge, just rumors that there are also plans to build a pedestrian bridge here.

Therefore, the event “We are driving in a safe Tarande” is basically for all Vilna safe, taking into account spent fuel, traffic jams, accidents. We want to demand in the event, to be good, to face it urgently, because you left us to chance for four years ”, he said.

Municipality: the project will take time, temporary solutions are requested

Vilnius Deputy Mayor Vytautas Mitalas told BNS that LAKD agreed to do its job faster and this gives us hope that the tunnel will be installed “before the planned 2024 year”. He says the process would speed up if LAKD abandoned the idea of ​​installing a duplicate highway on the Tarande side, because that’s where land acquisition problems stagnate.

The plots are not only private, but, we know that some of them are also mortgaged, these procedures can take a year, a year and a half or even up to two years. He also says that he has asked the LAKD and the police here until a tunnel is built and temporary security measures are put in place to limit the speed of cars on the Ukmergė side, such as a speedometer.

LAKD: The municipality has to build a road

At that time, LAKD reported that according to the agreement, the management plans to install not only an exit from the tunnel, but also a pedestrian overpass, and the municipality would be responsible for the adjacent road.

“We note that on September 2, 2020, a meeting was held at the Highway Administration, during which the Highway Administration and the Vilnius City Municipality agreed to seek ways to accelerate the implementation of the projects so that they are implemented earlier than stipulated in the cooperation agreement. Taking into account the situation, the Lithuanian Highway Administration will initiate a tender for the tunnel passage at the end of this year ”, BNS informed the management.

However, according to LAKD, all parts of this agreement must be implemented simultaneously, so it is not ruled out that this will take place until the end of 2024 as planned.

Once again, we note that the full and successful implementation of this project requires complex cooperation from all partners. This means that without the implementation of a certain part of the project, the final implementation of the entire project is not possible.
