“This year, after intensive distance learning, active, high-quality employment and fun in the summer is especially important for children. We are glad that this year many institutions and organizations have not escaped the uncertainty about the quarantine and boldly decided to organize child employment in the summer. It is gratifying that the programs in most camps emphasize the importance of physical activity; activities are planned outdoors. Increasing funds for camp organizers will create more favorable conditions for children in more sensitive social situations to participate in activities that interest them, “said Vilna Deputy Mayor Edita Tamošiūnaitė.
For 14 years in a row, the capital has been financially supporting the camps, according to a media report. This funding for camps is growing every year. The amount allocated to an organization has increased this year, which is expected to reduce the cost of the camps for families and allow a greater variety of children to camp.
As every year, most of the funded camps are full-time, general profile and organized in Vilnius, but there will also be 18 tourist camps, including 30 sports camps. Camps are organized throughout Lithuania: Vilnius children will be able to camp not only in the capital, but also in the districts of Alytus, Ignalina, Plungė, Kretinga, Švenčionys, Zarasai, Varėna, Trakai, Prienai, Širvintos and Utena. Also in Druskininkai, Šventoji, Palanga and other cities. This summer, taking into account the needs of parents, the duration of the camps in Vilnius has been extended to 8 in the morning. during the day. The camps can also be chosen according to age, from 6 to 18 years old.
The full-time summer recreation camps for children are organized by 34 Vilnius city schools, 6 music schools, 2 sports schools, 14 youth centers, clubs and 100 non-governmental organizations, associations and public institutions. Camps in Vilnius will start on June 8.
