What challenges await drivers?

According to the employees of the Lithuanian Highway Administration (LAKD), during the implementation of the A1 to 10-95 km stretch of the project, the reconstruction is carried out on 5 different sections of the Vilnius-Kaunas-Klaipeda highway: from 10 to 18.1 km, from 18.1 to 27, 56 km, from 27.56 to 56.96, from 56.97 to 87.44 km and from 87.44 to 95 km.

“Currently, wildlife fences are already being installed, a road is being laid out to install acceleration and deceleration lanes, subway crosswalks are being installed, intersections and lanes are being installed, and barriers are being installed.

It is also planned to install paths and crosswalks and bicycles at different levels, install speed control and warning systems, install lighting and other works, “says A. Ramoškaitė.

After reconstruction, safe traffic conditions and the permitted 110 km / h will be guaranteed. speed in winter and 130 km / h. in summer.

The most intense road in Lithuania.

The contract has been signed with 2 contractors: AB Kauno tiltai will manage four sections and UAB Fegda will manage one. The total value of the entire project is approximately 42.6 million. euros

The section of the A1 Vilnius – Kaunas – Klaipėda road from Vilnius to Kaunas has the highest traffic flow not only in Lithuania, but also in the Baltic States (Latvia, Estonia). The average annual intensity of traffic on this part of the road is approximately 30 thousand. cars per day.
