Vilnius criminals stopped international smuggling: Ukrainians transported cannabis from Spain

Vilnius County The Organized Crime Investigation Board of the Criminal Police of the Chief Commissariat of Police, together with the Prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office, completed a pre-trial investigation for illegal possession and smuggling of large quantities of drugs (article 260 (3), article 4 d.).

The investigation revealed that a group of people made up of citizens of Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania has divided the roles of committing serious and very serious crimes in the territories of several European Union (EU) countries.

The suspects hid about 5 kg of cannabis in the bushes. Police officers caught them with clues.

Officials discovered that two Ukrainian citizens, a father and a son, had received a large quantity of cannabis and cannabis parts and parts of it in the Kingdom of Spain, receiving an order from people living in Lithuania. He brought the territories of the French Republic, the German Federation, the Czech Republic and the Republic of Poland to Lithuania. Here, the drug was delivered to his client for a fee of € 2,500.

Only after sufficient data had been collected on serious and very serious crimes committed by individuals was it decided to carry out their arrest. Two people were arrested in the Vilnius district, in a wooded area; they hid about 5 kg of cannabis in the bushes. The policemen caught them unexpectedly, so the detainees could not get rid of the drugs, they were arrested with evidence.

In cooperation with the law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Poland, the two Ukrainian nationals mentioned above, who were transporting around 2.5 kg of cannabis drug by car, were arrested in Poland. Based on this fact, the Lublin Prosecutor’s Office launched a pre-trial investigation into drug trafficking in EU countries and placed the detainees in pre-trial detention.

Citizens of the Republic of Ukraine mentioned in the pre-trial investigation in Lithuania were also recognized as suspects, but the pre-trial investigation against them was separated and transferred to the Republic of Poland for prosecution.

This pre-trial investigation was conducted by Vilnius County. Officers of the Organized Crime Investigation Board of the Criminal Police of the Chief of Police Commissariat. It is planned to transfer the case to the Vilnius Regional Court in the near future.
