“I certainly would not rule out the possibility that a national quarantine could be announced,” Veryga told reporters on Friday.
“There are fewer and fewer municipalities in the yellow or green zone, but that must be decided by the government,” he said.
The minister pointed out that the epidemiological situation in the country is not improving and that “Lithuania will undoubtedly be on the list of red countries according to its indicators of spread of the virus.”
Veryga had previously stated that he did not see the need for a universal quarantine.
Currently, the quarantine has been announced in 21 municipalities, including Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda. There are a total of 60 municipalities in the country.
Due to the threat of spread of the coronavirus, the quarantine was announced in mid-March and was valid until mid-June.
