“It just came to our knowledge then [mokslo metus] really on time. It is very important to start them for economic and other reasons, because without the work of educational institutions, a large part of the population would not be able to go to work ”, says A. Veryga in the“ Delfi diena ”program.

“In general, after 7-9 days we see the effect. If we see that the number of cases suddenly begins to grow in mid-September, we can say that the opening of educational institutions has made a significant contribution,” explains the minister.

According to him, it is currently recommended to isolate as few people as possible if an infection is detected. The minister assures that if there are problems for the parents of isolated students, the procedure for issuing incapacity for work may also be reviewed, although it is expected that there will be more people requesting the ballot as the cold season approaches.

“I think there will be more people who will ask for the newsletter, although we are supposed to have a lot of colds when the cold season comes. Some of them are transmitted, especially the flu virus, and it is also hampered by protective measures. It is difficult to assess how much they can contribute to people and the transmission of colds less than usual ”, considers the minister.

According to data from Tuesday, the coronavirus has already affected 15 educational institutions, two of which are preschool educational institutions. A total of 228 students are isolated, the number of sick students is 14 and 2 children are in kindergartens. The kindergartens already have a total of 18 employees in self-isolation.

No new restrictions are planned

According to the minister, so far there is not a single municipality where the situation is considered particularly bad.

“Until now I could not highlight any municipality, the numbers fluctuate. The biggest problem is the big cities, of course, there are more people and meetings, but definitely one city should not be highlighted ”, says A. Veryga.

According to him, the disease travels to educational institutions from already known outbreaks, so in case of the spread of the coronavirus, local measures will be applied: institutions and there is a risk of a shortage of seats, then decisions can be made at the national level. “

So far, according to the minister, no additional restrictions are being considered.

“No new restrictions are planned yet. From what we are seeing now, we can assume that the measures are taking effect, and I urge you to refrain from unnecessary meetings a bit now so that we can get to where we really need to be during a period of longer time, instead of flying wherever we can. ”Veryga.

According to him, it is still difficult to say how to prepare for the celebration of Christmas, but the minister notes that the number of cases is growing across Europe.

“It’s too early to guess what the situation will be like at Christmas. In a very optimistic scenario, if one of the companies promises, we could get the vaccine by the end of the year. Then we could really go back to normal life and breathe,” says A. Veryga in the program “Delfi diena”.
