“It would probably be unethical for me to argue. There are institutions that will make the presentation, there are institutions that will decide on the candidacy and evaluate it accordingly. I will refrain from conducting evaluations, ”V. Vasiliauskas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, told reporters on Friday.

S. Krėpšta, the president’s senior adviser on economic and social policy, said this week that if he received a formal proposal, he would consider taking over as chairman of the board of the Bank of Lithuania.

For his part, V. Vasiliauskas reiterated that he will not speak for or against this candidacy.

“I am not competent to speak on this subject and my opinion should not interest anyone. We worked together, we really did a lot. He’s a really trustworthy and reputable team member.

If they asked me if I would go for intelligence, my answer would be “yes, I would,” added V. Vasiliauskas, whose second term ends in April.
