V.Žala and A.Malnieks opened the “Rally Samogitian” starting first. The Agrorodeo team won the first four speeds and separated from the Latvian team Janis Vorobjovs in second place for more than 43 seconds.

In the fifth speed section V. Žala made a mistake: Škoda turned on the road. It cost the Agrorodeo team at least 10 seconds. The team finished ninth in this section, but that didn’t stop the team from maintaining the lead in the overall standings.

The sixth and seventh stage were resumed according to plan: V. Žala gained these speed sections and increased the lead over the closest crew again to almost 39 seconds.
The eighth stage was canceled due to an accident, and in the ninth the Agrorodeo crew again dictated their conditions: after winning the ninth stage, V. Žala and A. Malnieks increased the lead to almost 44 seconds (+43.85).
The situation did not change during the rest of the rally distance: V. Žala won all the remaining stages and confidently won the general classification.
“Aside from a few mistakes, things turned out pretty well. At the end of the rally I was already starting to feel the car as things were going, everything was on the way. At first, it was necessary to adapt. And now everything is much better, to Be precise. The last fast speeds were a lot of fun: they wanted to break the limiter even more. In the end we were already driving well, without adding or subtracting. The most important thing is that the car is healthy, “V. Žala was happy.
Second, the remaining Latvian J. Vorobjovs was outplayed by Agrorodeo 1 minute. 24.45 sec. Giedrius Notkus was third (+1 min. 30.75 sec.)
“The rally was fast and fun. It was fun to watch Janis fight Giedrium for seconds. I like the road surface in these areas, ”said V. Žala.
In total, the drivers will have to cover 108 km of speed sections on Saturday. It is true that a speed section was canceled, so the distance was shortened a bit.
Up to 6 Lithuanian champions were estimated to have joined the starting line this year. V. Žala plans to also participate in the Rokiškis rally this year.
This year’s “Samogitian Rally” was dedicated to the memory of Tomas Savickas (1969-2019), who was one of the founders of the “Samogitian Rally”.
