“We really have no reason to be sad today,” Radžvilas told a news conference on Monday.
“The future belongs to our party and it is not just blind faith. We have a development strategy, we are very excited (…) I think we are going to hear more about this party, ”he said.
According to the party leader, future success can be believed on the understanding that the principle of the nation-state, which his party “carries and proclaims” this principle, will return.
He also stressed that the current established parties are avoiding solving the fundamental problems of the country, so if the National Union helped raise them to the top, the objective of the election was achieved.
The future belongs to our party and it is not just blind faith. We have a development strategy, we are very excited (…) I think you will hear more about this party.
“If we can get rid of that really swampy water, and I think we have, we will have achieved our goal so far,” said the political science professor.
However, according to V. Radžvilas, the party did not receive all the votes of the voters expected for two reasons: the information blackout carried out by the media and the fear of the voters.
“Countless people wanted to vote for us, but the tension and opposition in Lithuanian society reached such a point that for fear of losing the vote, those who did not want to vote for the conservatives did not vote for us, they were afraid that the peasants won, while many were that the conservatives would return to power. To ensure, they did not vote for us, although they were morally and psychologically prepared for it, “he said.
V.Rajžvilas said that he did not yet know which candidates his party would support in the second round of the Seimas elections and stated that the support would be granted in accordance with political provisions.
“We do not make cheap deals, but if the political attitudes of the candidates are in line with our attitudes … if they have been confirmed in the past by works, yes, we will consider that option,” he said.
The National Association for Right Orientation was established on March 7 in Vilnius, and V. Radžvilas was elected president at that time. In Antakalnis’s one-member constituency, he, with just over 6 percent. Conservative Ingrida Šimonytė, who entered Seimas in the first round, came in second after 60 percent. votes.
