For three days, members of the Liberal Movement sorted through the list of candidates for the Seimas, which was made clear Saturday during a party council meeting.
The list of candidates for the Seimas, the list for the elections will be chaired by the party’s president, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the second candidate in the multi-member constituency, Andrius Bagdonas, and the third, the President of the Seimas, Viktoras Pranckietis.
“Thanks for the trust, it is too big for me, but I will accept it,” V. Franckietis joked during the meeting.
The Seimas president told reporters that, according to the ranking of party members, he did not even take third, but second place, because first-place members did not rank: it had already been announced that V. Čmilytė-Nielsen would lead to the candidates of the Liberal Movement.
“I really didn’t expect that. I wouldn’t want to be 83, of course, but I really didn’t expect to be the third. The message was so warm to me that the community accepted him as their own person,” said V. Pranckietis, adding that I didn’t even imagine what place to wait.
“When a person comes from a country, you don’t know what the reaction will be in that community,” emphasized the third number on the list of candidates for the Liberal Movement.
However, when asked if he would join the party, V. Pranckietis made it clear that he did not plan to do so in the near future.
“You know, changing the inscription on a building does not change the foundation of the building. It is exactly the same to think here, if the notes are important, if it is important how people communicate, how they think and what they point to. Let’s think about it, not about the formal things that are emphasized, “said V. Franckietis.
During the meeting, V. Franckietis, who announced the decision to go to the elections with the Liberals on Tuesday, assured members of the Liberal Movement that he did not appear on the list by accident and that he had sympathized with the party’s ideas for some time. .
“I didn’t show up here by accident, I walked with such jealousy and always thought I could identify with the community. But the biggest community for me is Lithuania. I have no interest in gambling with party cards, therefore I showed up where they work out Lithuania’s problems, “said V. Pranckietis.
The fourth in the list of candidates of the Liberal Movement to the Seimas is the former discus thrower Virginijus Alekna, the fifth is Edita Rudelienė, the sixth is Eugenijus Gentvilas, the seventh is the political scientist Raimundas Lopata and the eighth is Simonas Gentvilas.
The ninth candidate on the list is Arminas Lydeka, the tenth is Simonas Kairys.
Among the top ten: Nijolė Makštutienė, Kęstutis Glaveckas, Orinta Omelytė, Sigitas Mičiulis, Ričardas Juška, Jonas Liesys, Marcijonas Urmonas, Kęstutis Vaitukaitis, Gintaras Vaičekauskas and Ligita Kazlauskienė.
