US police warned of a new conspiracy to “invade” the Capitol

Nearly two months ago, a mob of Trump supporters, including supporters of the so-called QAnon conspiracy theory, stormed the Capitol building and engulfed members of Congress. These riots claimed the lives of five people and shook the heart of American democracy.

Some defenders of the QAnon theory believe that Trump was deceptively deprived of a second term and that the former leader would return to power on Thursday to challenge a secret international conspiracy by liberal Satanists.

“We have received intelligence showing a possible conspiracy by an identified group of militants to invade the Capitol on Thursday, March 4,” Capitol Police said in a statement.

“We are already significantly strengthening security measures, including physical structures and additional personnel, to ensure the protection of Congress, the public, and our police officers,” the report says. Officials stressed that “they take this information seriously.”

The intercepted online chats suggest that some supporters of the QAnon movement consider Thursday to be the day of Trump’s inauguration.

Until 1933, most U.S. presidents were sworn in on March 4, but that date was later moved to January 20.
