Trump’s resignation on Twitter Monday night said he would be leaving on December 23. The President stressed that the Attorney General has done an “excellent job.” His post will be temporarily taken over by Rep. Jeff Rosen.
According to D. Trump, W. Barras is retiring just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family. He stressed that the relationship between the two was “very good.” Barras, for his part, praised Trump’s work. He praised the “many and unprecedented victories” that Trump had won for Americans. The president’s achievements are historic because he has had to defend himself against “fierce” political opponents. “Few would have withstood these attacks,” Barras wrote.
Trump appointed Barra as Attorney General in December 2018, when his predecessor, Jeff Sessions, resigned at the request of the president. Barras was very loyal to Trump and himself was regularly praised by the president.
Recently, however, the relationship between the two has not seemed very harmonious. Last week, even Barras acknowledged that there was no evidence that the US election results had been significantly manipulated, prompting Trump’s dissatisfaction.
