“A few days ago, firefighters from the second team of the Vilnius Fire and Rescue Board rescued a small cat in the Neris river near the Žvėrynas bridge. The general assistance service was informed that a cat had been thrown into the river or had fallen into the river, ”says the service record.
The shift leader of the team that went to the scene assures that he found the kitten on the island. After the rescue, an attempt was made to deliver him to the animal care facility, but there was no room there, so he became a guest at the fire station.
“When we arrived, we saw that the cat was lying on a small island under the bridge, and its buzzing could be heard on the shore,” said Gžegož Petkevič, the team’s second shift commander. – Firefighter rescue worker Pavel Bzozovsky led the river towards the animal and brought it ashore. Specialists from the General Assistance Center contacted the staff of the animal care organization, but the latter reported that there was no place for the kitten in the care facility. So we took it all wet and dirty to the fire station. “
Firefighters rescued the kitten, fed it and put it in a box. There he slept peacefully until firefighters rescued the fire. But when he drove through the night, he found no more.

“The cat recovered and escaped, or rather, hid somewhere in the garage. I told the firefighters on the next shift who were coming to work in the morning that we had a guest and asked them to find him. After a while, the firefighters found the kitten in a fire truck under the hood, ”said the shift commander.
According to G. Petkevič, not only this cat, but also the kitten that had been saved earlier, was taken in by an employee of the General Assistance Center.
