It is true that the conversation with the representative of the farm located near Kaunas was a bit longer. It was noted that the rented premises were difficult to access: police officers are on duty at the entrances to cities during the festive period. After reporting that this is not a problem, we move on to pricing discussion. Consequently, it is the only place of the 8 surveyed that rents premises for the celebration of the New Year.

Owners who live in smaller cities even hinted that they had to sign certain papers pledging not to rent their spaces to people during the Christmas season. When asked what the papers are, the owners do not detail.

Ramūnas Matonis, Head of the Communications Department of the Lithuanian Police Department, told the news portal tv3.lt that controls will be strengthened in urban areas and, upon receiving a report of possible breach of quarantine rules, people will respond ; people shouldn’t be surprised if police officers call.

“If we have data (on breach of quarantine rules, aut. Past), such checks are possible. We will also respond to incoming calls. <...> Most of the forces will be in the central squares, near the Christmas trees or other mass gatherings. Nor will we forget parks, squares, educational trails, ”said R. Matonis.

He also noted that the day before the New Year, police officers will resume intensive control of the city’s entrances. Officials will monitor drivers entering even just before midnight, so it’s not worth trying to get people into town. The inspection will run until January 3.

Even so, the regulation of flows will be carried out in the cities themselves. People will not be able to see the midnight fireworks on the main green curtains of the city, trying to avoid fortune-telling.

“The forces will be strengthened, communication with the municipalities will be carried out in order to reduce the flow of people, restrict access and surround the central fir. More than 400 people were fined for coming en masse last weekend, so attention will also focus on these violations next weekend, ”said the Head of the Communication Division of the Lithuanian Police Department.

Additionally, there will be additional restrictions on the movement of people on New Year’s Eve and there will be no access to urban Christmas trees, which will be fenced off and extinct.

During the quarantine in Lithuania, it is forbidden to gather in public places for groups of more than two people or members of more than one household.

In addition, the General Commissioner of Police Renatas Požėla has said that, according to officials, and centralized fireworks should not be.

The parties will be closing soon and not only the host will receive fines

During the New Year holidays and during the festive weekend, the Lithuanian police use large forces and partners to guarantee movement and other quarantine restrictions. Police are warning residents that New Year’s Eve parties are prohibited and they promise to respond immediately to such reports, and a fine threatens not only the owner but also the partygoers.

Police Commissioner General R. Požėla said that a large number of police officers and partners would be working during the upcoming holidays to limit possible holidays and holidays, restrict movement between municipalities and possible infractions in supermarkets.

“The police are ready for the so-called third stage. To our knowledge, it will be the most difficult while waiting for us on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve.

The planning for this weekend, where we see challenges and threats, is the movement of people and vehicles within the municipality itself. The first challenge is this day and night, which involves the operation of supermarkets and individuals who try to take advantage of that last minute purchase of merchandise, shopping. The police reserve the right and we plan to monitor the situation. Police will also target supermarkets.

Risks and threats that our people can choose in violation of the quarantine requirements in private spaces, homes. Once again, we call on the entire population to understand it. In the same way, I make a call to the entire population for citizenship, and when I see these kinds of meetings, I really ask them to call the police, who will simply close the event when it arrives.

Upon the arrival of the police, in the event that an infraction is recorded in a private space, the minutes would be written not only to the owner but also to everyone present at the party. The main thing is that the police will leave such a call only if they are convinced that the party is interrupted, “said the December 31 press conference. R. Požėla said.

The Code of Administrative Offenses provides for a fine of 500 to 1.5 thousand for infractions of the quarantine requirements. EUR, for managers of legal entities or other responsible persons – from 1,5 thousand. up to 6 thousand. euros.

A large force of officials will work

Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė warned residents that a large number of officials would be working during holidays and the long weekend and urged people to be responsible.

“We have to be especially prepared because it is New Year’s Eve. I must say that our police officers are also ready, about 7.5 thousand of them will be present during the weekend, a couple thousand every day. Our social partners will also actively participate, there will be about 1.6 thousand of them, so we hope that everything will go well. Don’t give yourself a short-lived COVID-19 gift.

The main objective of the police is not to punish people, but to explain and speak out so that people comply with those restrictions in good faith. {…} The police are ready to ensure not only the control of the stables, but that there will be a lot of attention to public places and their control ”, said A. Bilotaitė.

The police will build posts, barriers, and enforce restrictions on movement between municipalities. The mass car inspection will begin Thursday at 1 pm and continue through Sunday night. The control of vehicles at the posts is in charge of the police, border guards, the Riflemen’s Union, the Military Police, the Public Security Service and the Financial Crimes Investigation Service.

To curb the spread of the coronavirus, the government unnecessarily banned movement between municipalities until January 3. Police ordered mass inspections of running cars on weekends and holidays.

Since mid-December, when a traffic ban between municipalities was introduced, officials at checkpoints have handed over 31,000. transport. Almost 16.5 thousand. The cars rolled over during the long Christmas weekend.

Police are urging residents who are traveling to provide documents proving their right to move. People can travel for work, to the doctor or to the funeral. The car can be driven by a maximum of two people or people who live together.

Not all municipalities join

Police have announced that additional measures will be taken to control the flow of people on New Year’s Eve. However, so far not all municipalities in the country have agreed to implement the police recommendations.

“We are pleased that the vast majority of municipalities have taken these measures. I would like to highlight the municipality of Palanga and the mayor, where additional measures are planned and implemented on their own initiative. But to date, we have around 12 municipalities that still doubt whether they are working to implement these measures, ”said R. Požėla.

R. Požėla did not want to name the municipalities that are not yet willing to introduce additional measures. He also emphasized that violations and non-compliance with quarantine requirements can also penalize legal persons, for which municipalities can also face fines.

“It just came to our attention then. The leaders of those municipalities know what I am talking about. There is still time and we hope they make the right decisions.

The municipality is also a legal entity, so in reality it may happen that after this weekend protocols may be born for those responsible for the municipalities, if we see obvious violations, as a result of which the quarantine requirements were not ensured ” said R. Požėla.

Traffic and parking are prohibited in Vilnius towards the Cathedral Square.

“We can be glad that in Vilnius County all municipalities have decided to put out the Christmas trees on New Year’s Eve and not allow fireworks, I am happy about that.

As night approaches, traffic will be banned in Vilnius towards the Christmas tree built in the Cathedral Square: Barbora Radvilaitė, Šventaragio, Žygimantų, Vrublevskio streets. The spruce is blocked. And not unnecessarily, the police yesterday recorded an incident, during which a citizen tried to climb a Christmas tree, “Gag said at a press conference, noting that the person’s actions will be evaluated in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses .

Vilnius County Police Chief S. Gagas noted that not only traffic to Cathedral Square will be banned, but also parking around it.

“Traffic will be prohibited from 22:30 to 1:30. In the city of Vilnius. And I would also like to point out that parking in the surrounding streets is also prohibited, public transport will also not lead to the city center. These are the people who, perhaps until now, have planned to go there as usual, so we suggest not to. Because traffic jams can occur, they will turn around and the New Year may have to be welcomed in the cars ”Gag said.
