“The government will be offered to introduce universal quarantine on Wednesday, starting at the end of this week, probably starting at midnight on Saturday,” Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said on Tuesday after the COVID-19 steering committee meeting.

He said he had proposed leaving five municipalities in the green zone without major restrictions, but other members of the cabinet did not support him.

Among other things, it is planned to limit the holidays and allow no more than 10 people, closest relatives, to attend weddings and funerals.

It is also intended to offer the Church the cessation of worship. “I hope Church leaders take this into account,” Skvernell said.

He also said he would propose to tighten restrictions on social contacts. “It just came to our attention then. With the introduction of quarantine, communication between more than two families or between so-called domestic families, no more than 10 people, will be prohibited,” said the Prime Minister.

Movement between cities will not be restricted, but according to the head of government, this is not recommended.

Hairdressers and beauty salons must operate without major restrictions. “The restrictions should not be as absolute as they were in spring, simply to comply with the hygiene and safety requirements and pre-registration so that the client can queue without waiting,” said the head of government.

The Cabinet of Ministers will be offered to suspend massage services, except medical ones, as well as the activities of sports clubs, swimming pools and spas.

The prohibition of singing, dancing and other contact activities will also be suggested.

The government will also be asked to set up the work to be done remotely as much as possible.

It is intended to suspend the activities of museums, theaters and cinemas, and libraries have the right to operate remotely. It was decided to hold sporting events without spectators.

According to the Prime Minister, kindergartens and primary education will function without restrictions: the right to decide will be left to the parents.

Schools with older youth will be offered to work remotely or co-ed. “A blended or distance learning method is recommended, where 50 percent. education is through contact and 50 percent. it is carried out remotely, ”said S. Skvernelis.

According to him, higher education institutions will be instructed to work remotely, except for those students for whom it is not possible to practice remotely.

Based on epidemiological indicators, the government has identified three zones into which the municipalities are divided: red, yellow and green. Municipalities in the yellow zone are currently subject to individual infection control guidelines and quarantine is being introduced in the red zone.

34 municipalities in the country are included in the red zone, 21 local quarantines have already been announced. Another 21 municipalities fall into the yellow zone, five municipalities – Anykščiai, Ignalina, Rokiškis, Zarasai and Visaginas districts are still included in the green zone .
