The administration of the Ukmergė Hospital announced that from Thursday, November 19, a second COVID ward with 28 beds will open in the hospital. The first compartment of its kind with 28 beds was opened on November 4. As a result, the provision of Internal Medicine Profile services to non-COVID-19 patients was suspended.
The administration of Ukmergė Hospital has announced that scheduled operations at the hospital have been suspended since Tuesday and that new patients are no longer admitted to the Neurology and Cardiology Departments.
Neurology and Cardiology patients agreed to be admitted to Anykščiai and Elektrėnai Hospitals. Patients with an internal disease profile continue to be admitted to Širvintos Hospital, but referral of these patients to Molėtai Hospital is stopped.
Ukmergė Hospital continues to provide emergency care: Admission – Emergency Department, Department of Surgery, Orthopedics – Department of Traumatology, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Obstetrics.
Outpatient care at the Counseling Polyclinic and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation remains for the time being, but some specialists may not work.
The hospital advises that other services can be suspended if necessary.
It is also reported that COVID-19 patients are not directly admitted to the hospital as there is a supporting COVID hospital; patients are admitted to the hospital only under the direction of the Santara Clinics of the main Personal Medical Care Institution (ASPI) – Vilnius University Hospital (VUL).
Therefore, patients who develop the need for hospital services after the diagnosis of COVID-19 must first go (or be transported) to the ASPI – Center for Infectious Diseases of the VUL Santara Clinics.
