“Two cases are imported: one from Ukraine, the other from Uzbekistan. Another case is local, but their links are clear,” said Rolanda Lingienė, Director of the Department of NVSC Vilnius, at BNS.
According to her, the person returned to Lithuania from Ukraine on July 5 through the Lazdijai border checkpoint, after two days she felt symptoms, therefore, she performed a coronavirus test at the mobile point.
“The man was in Ukraine for a few days, and when he returned, he said he was isolated. Ukraine has only been included in the list of affected countries since July 6, so it was not registered because it was not required. The contact was established alone in the family, four people had it, “said a representative from NVSC.
According to R. Lingienė, the infected person flew from Uzbekistan to Riga on July 2, and from there the family member drove him to Lithuania.
“It took place through the Saločiai border checkpoint. On July 6, he felt the first symptoms, the next day he had a test. Three family members were exposed because he claimed to be isolated, even though Uzbekistan is not on the list of affected countries, “he explained.
“I want to emphasize that both visitors volunteered to isolate themselves. This is very important when people understand the potential risks, ”said a representative from NVSC.
The third new coronavirus infection is related to an already known outbreak in Vilnius.
“This is another employee of an archive and document management company. Yesterday we included him in the general statistics of infected people in the company, this number does not change, there are six in total, but it is only included in the national statistics today” R. Lingienė said.
“Only two contacts were identified because he was isolated after the first ill person in the company. Those contacts are family members, “he added.
According to Thursday data, a total of 1,857 people were infected with the coronavirus, 203 people are still sick and 1,564 people have recovered.
79 people died from COVID-19, and 11 other people living with coronaviruses died from other causes.
