On Thursday, the Klaipeda Regional Court reopened a resounding doping case in which two famous trainers from the port city and Panevėžys were found guilty at first instance.
Both specialists declare that they were not only wrongly accused: the case was based on transcripts of interviews and medications, which, according to B. Vyšniauskas, allegedly consumes and buys for personal needs.
“There are no such drugs in Lithuania, so I buy in large quantities. Doctors prescribe it to me, I buy it. I do not distribute, I do not sell, I need them myself,” said B. Vyšniauskas.
“I’m looking for justification. Why? Are you laughing? Because I’m innocent. I didn’t distribute it to anyone, I didn’t give it to anyone,” said the famous weightlifting coach.
When asked about the 10-year disqualification sentence, he said the fight would continue: “We will continue to complain. We will not quit this time. It is enough to make an elephant out of a fly. “
Why was such a decision made?
“They are to blame (employees of the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency – ed.). They themselves did not answer phone calls when they needed to be consulted. And now the decision does not even mention that they did not answer the calls. And we have tiles. Deliberately here because they were delivered to the police, etc. Well, everything is fine, what else? ”B. Vyšniauskas was eager to end the conversation.
A well-known weightlifting coach said the disqualification decision would be appealed to the Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport: “How can you come out of nowhere and laugh at me? They come ready to terrorize me. Imagine after that I was checked 6 more times for alcohol. I leave work at night in Kretinga, Kretinga … I still wanted to do it to get fucked. Checks again on Monday morning. Of course, maybe “pachmielnas”. The merits are, they are not revoked, but they had to be loyal. You all know why repeat. You all know how the LTOK elections went, how I stood up, how I said that Edžius Urbonavičius and Daina Gudzinevičiūtė needed to wear a good belt, that they destroyed sports, doctors, physiotherapists, masseurs, the Olympic Center. You can see for yourself where the sport was found. Everyone else works, and it would be mine if I hadn’t put my tongue on my anvil. “
A. Jakimavičius assures that the accusations against him are also unfounded, and the case is just a sham. The lawyers for both asked the court to partially resume examining the evidence and to investigate the suitcase found in B. Vyšniauskas: the composition and validity of the drugs it contains. According to B. Vyšniauskas’ lawyer and the 72-year-old coach himself, the drugs were bought a long time ago.
A. Jakimavičius’s lawyer also approved the request for examination of evidence.
“I think I’m innocent, so I came here. I have nothing more to say. I have no news of doping control allegations. Athletes have never received doping from me, I have not distributed it to anyone. If I had distributed it during so many years, someone would have said it ”, assured A. Jakimavičius.
Prosecutor A. Gulenkov says he seeks more severe punishment in support of the charge.
“I am asking for hundreds of thousands of fines for both of them,” Gulenkov said, assuring him that such punishments would be justified by law.
The court granted the request to resume examining the evidence, during which the transcripts of the interviews will be heard.
Delphi recalls that in the case examined in the Klaipėda City District Court, the accused included Ramūnas Vyšniauskas, son of B. Vyšniauskas, who was acquitted.
B. Vyšniauskas was found guilty of possession of doping substances for distribution purposes, 5,000 were assigned to him. a fine of euros. A. Jakimavičius was similarly punished.
The investigation into the doping case began in 2017. Investigative officers searched the coaches’ homes and workplaces. The specialists were accused of illegally storing doping substances in their place of residence and in those of their relatives, as well as in the sports club facilities, with the aim of distributing them. Mr. Vyšniauskas was also charged with possession of psychotropic substances, tablets, with no intention of selling or distributing them.
Prosecutors announced that around 20 vials, 40 containers, 80 ampoules and more than a thousand tablets of prohibited drugs were found in B. Vyšniauskas. During a search for A. Jakimavičius, a syringe with a solvent, several vials, vials, a pack and around 50 ampoules of various banned substances were found. The substances found belong to the group of anabolic and androgenic steroids, as well as to the group of growth hormone and growth hormone secretagogues. The defendants faced up to four years in prison.
This week, the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency disqualified B. Vyšniauskas for ten years. Her son, like A. Jakimavičius, remains suspended and is still awaiting the final verdict from the doping controllers.
